Christopher Ward Unveils New Special-Edition C63 Models
Making special edition watches is something Christopher Ward tends to do from time to time; using watches to benefit worthy charities. Now it has introduced two fantastic-looking timepieces, one to benefit a charity it has long supported and one to benefit a new one.
Introducing: The special-edition C63 SH21 Snow Leopard and the C63 SH21 Blue Marine.
Both models build off the existing C63 frames, but that’s about where the similarities stop. The dials are very different from any of the current C63 models; for starters, each model isn’t just a different color, they sport different patterns too.
The Blue Marine, for starters, features a three-dimensional wave pattern on the dial, while the Snow Leopard features what appears to be a very subtle imprinted pattern inspired by the coat of a snow leopard.
The differences don’t stop there, however. Both C63s also feature two subdials, one that’s for the seconds hand and the other to indicate power reserve. This makes these units unique in Christopher Ward’s lineup as I do not see any other watches that feature these two dials.
Under the hood, driving those subdials – and a very slick color-matched date wheel inside a curvy trapezoidal window – is Christopher Ward’s in-house SH21 movement. Based on the tried-and-true SW200-1, the SH21 has been heavily modified and improved by CW. It features a twin-barrel construction, 5-day power reserve, as well as additional modifications that allow it to be more durable and deliver COSC-certified chronometer performance.
And, as I mentioned at the opening of this post, these special editions actually benefit some very worthy charities. The Snow Leopard edition benefits the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation; 5% of every sale of this watch goes to the DSWF and Christopher Ward will also adopt a snow leopard in the buyer’s name for a year.
The Blue Marine is more for the ocean-centric buyer; once again, 5% of the sale of each watch goes to the Blue Marine foundation.
The watches are available for pre-order and will deliver in mid-July, 2023.
You can find the Blue Marine here and the Snow Leopard here. They retail for $2110 on the bracelet or $1925 on a strap.
